Campus: Denver
City: Denver, CO
Position Type: Faculty
Posting date: 09/22/2015
Position #606389 / Posting ‪#‎F02884‬

The School of Education & Human Development (SEHD) at the University
of Colorado Denver announces a position for a senior faculty member in
one of our existing graduate program areas, 50% of whose role will be
to lead the doctoral programs of the School beginning in fall 2016 or
upon prior availability. The School is seeking a Full Professor whose
skills, experiences, and commitments will contribute to excellence in
his/her program area and ensure excellence in all doctoral programs.
The faculty member filling this position will become a vital member of
the school’s standing committee of Program Leaders who meet regularly
to coordinate and build academic programs. About 60 full-time faculty
offer programs and endorsement areas leading to 13 degrees, including
an undergraduate degree with four program paths, multiple master’s
degrees, and three doctoral programs, a PsyD, an EdD and a PhD. On
campus, the SEHD enrolls about 300 undergraduate students and over
1900 graduate students, including 163 doctoral students. The SEHD has
extensive continuing and professional education outreach programs as
well as approximately $30 million in multi- year external funding.

The University of Colorado Denver is the premier urban research
university in Colorado and is committed to becoming one of the top ten
urban institutions in the country. The SEHD strives to be a leading
school of education, providing national expertise on educational
issues and socially just solutions for urban and diverse communities.
Located in the heart of downtown Denver, whose population is
increasingly diverse (32% Latino, 10% African American), the SEHD,
accredited by NCATE, has taken a leadership role in preparing scholar-
professionals to work in diverse schools, agencies and related
settings in collaboration with partners in diverse settings.

The SEHD revised its approach to doctoral education in 2009, opening a
new EdD aligned with practitioner oriented Carnegie Project on the
Education Doctorate, as well as a revised PhD explicitly focused on
preparing students to work in academic institutions. In 2014, the SEHD
added a PsyD in School Psychology. Continuous improvement of our
doctoral programs continued in 2015 with the establishment of our
Center for Practice-Engaged Education Research (C-PEER). C-PEER is a
network of researchers, educators, and community members who support
schools and communities in improving their work on behalf of learners.
C- PEER’s goal is to partner on locally relevant research and
disseminate the findings nationally. Doctoral students play a major
role in C-PEER’s activities.

The SEHD is one of 11 schools/colleges that make up the University of
Colorado Denver. The others are the College of Liberal Arts and
Sciences, the College of Architecture and Planning, the College of
Arts and Media, the Business School, the School of Engineering, the
School of Public Affairs, the School of Medicine, the School of
Pharmacy, the School of Nursing, and the School of Dentistry. These
schools are housed on two campuses—one in downtown Denver and one on
the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora.

The SEHD’s doctoral programs include:

Ecologies. The School’s Center for Practice-Engaged Education Research
supports seamless access to districts, schools and communities as well
as identified problems of practice as authentic dissertation topics of
study. CU Denver is a member of the Carnegie Project on the Education
Doctorate, CPED.

* The Doctor of Psychology, PsyD, School Psychology
The PsyD leads to licensure as a school psychologist by the Colorado
Department of Education and prepares graduates to apply for licensure
by the Colorado State Board of Psychologist Examiners. Consistent with
a practitioner-scholar model, the PsyD Program in School Psychology
