The University of Washington Tacoma Education Program announces an opening for a tenure track appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in Educational Administration. The position involves teaching and program coordination in the school principal preparation program. Responsibilities include overseeing the supervision of principal internships, recruiting and advising students, and maintaining relationships with schools, school districts, and external groups to assure the program is well connected to current issues of professional practice. The successful candidate must have demonstrated potential for teaching excellence, for conducting and publishing scholarly research, and for articulating a research agenda. An earned doctorate in educational administration, leadership, or a related field, with an emphasis in P-12 education is required by the first day of employment. Preference will be given to candidates who have broad knowledge and experience related to P-12 leadership and demonstrated success in social justice through working to improve educational outcomes for a diverse community of students and educators.

UWT’s one-year certification program with a model of concurrent instruction and internship is one of the most successful principal preparation programs in the state. The focus on inclusive leadership, ethical administration, and excellence in supervision of curriculum and instruction has a focus on change agency in complex school environments, particularly on reducing the achievement gap for diverse populations.
