Advanced Assistant or Associate Professor in Education

The Education Program at Barnard College, Columbia University, is seeking a full-time tenure-track scholar at the rank of Advanced Assistant Professor or Associate Professor in Education, to begin fall, 2016. Candidates must have an earned doctorate in Education or a related discipline and should have leadership experience as well as interdisciplinary teaching experience in K-12 and university classrooms. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to addressing issues of equity and social justice related to race, class, gender, disability, and language, particularly in urban schools, and have a record of publications in peer-reviewed, top-tier, educational journals. Area of specialization is open, but particular attention will be given to candidates with leadership in urban or STEM teacher education initiatives. Barnard is an independent college of liberal arts and sciences for women affiliated with Columbia University. The Education Program offers a minor in Urban Teaching that leads to initial NYS certification and a minor in Education Studies for undergraduate students from Barnard and Columbia. Courses of instruction may include Educational Foundations, Elementary or Secondary Pedagogy, Science or Mathematics Pedagogy, and Student Teaching Supervision. A commitment to undergraduate teaching and advising is expected.
