POSITION: Tenure-Track Associate Professor or Professor in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialization in English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Urban/Diversity Education, or other teacher education expertise. 
QUALIFICATIONS: Consistent with the stated mission of the University to be a world-class institution dedicated to Christian principles and ideals the qualifications for the position include: 
 Doctoral degree in curriculum and instruction or closely related field 
 A rank-appropriate record of publication, 
 A record of external funding, 
 Evidence of excellence in teaching at the university level, service to the profession at the national level, and the ability to mentor junior faculty and doctoral students, and 

Preference will be given to applicants who have: 
 Experiences with PK-12 students in an educational setting; 


 Knowledge of developmentally appropriate, pedagogically sound teaching practices in PK-12 educational environments; 
 Evidence of a commitment to equity and social justice; or 
 Knowledge of pedagogy appropriate for culturally and/or linguistically diverse students. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: The teacher education program in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction includes undergraduate degrees in elementary education and middle or secondary education in the core subject areas; masters degrees in education with several cognate options; an EdD in Curriculum and Instruction and a PhD in Curriculum and Teaching. The primary responsibilities of this position include: 
 Pursuing a relevant research and publication agenda; 
 Participating in individual or collaborative activities to secure external funding; 
 Teaching generalist or subject specific courses in both the undergraduate and graduate programs; 
 Recruiting and mentoring students, including EdD and PhD graduate assistants, and 
 Providing service to the department, university and profession. 

RANK AND SALARY: The salary will be commensurate with qualifications and professional experience. The anticipated date of appointment is August 2016.
