The
University of Texas at Austin, Department of Curriculum and Instruction,

Education program, to begin Fall 2014:
QUALIFICATIONS:
· A doctorate in Early Childhood Education or
related field
· Demonstrated excellence or potential for excellence in research
and teaching
· Experience in teaching young children
· A strong research agenda focused on early childhood education
Successful
candidates will teach undergraduate courses in our teacher certification
programs (prekindergarten through the primary grades) and graduate courses in
our Early Childhood Education graduate degree programs. Above all, we seek a
talented scholar to work collaboratively with a faculty committed to innovative
and socially responsive research, teaching, and service in undergraduate and
graduate programs. The Department of Curriculum and Instruction has a strong

Position
announcement: Assistant Professor (Tenure-Track), Literacy Education
The Department
of Curriculum & Instruction of the University of Texas at Austin is seeking
applicants for a faculty position in Language and Literacy Studies to begin
August 2014. UT-Austin
is an urban research university with approximately 50,000 students, 3500 of
whom are enrolled in the College of Education. The Department offers both
masters and doctoral-level programs, and it plays a principal role in a large
undergraduate teacher education program.
Qualifications
for this position include: an earned doctorate in reading or literacy
education, a commitment to field-based teacher
preparation, experience and ability in scholarly research and writing,
and skill in using instructional technology. Candidates with experience in
culturally and linguistically diverse settings will receive special
consideration. We will be especially attentive to applicants whose literacy
research has a focus on young children, digital literacies, and/or the
education of culturally and linguistically diverse students, though our search
is not strictly limited to those areas. Responsibilities include undergraduate elementary literacy methods and graduate teaching,
scholarly research and writing, graduate student advisement, and service to the
department, college, University, profession, and the public. Salary will be
competitive based on education, experience, and the University’s salary
schedule.

STEM Education, Department of Curriculum & Instruction

The Department of Curriculum and Instruction, at The
University of Texas at Austin, invites applications for two tenure-track
positions in our STEM Education program, to begin Fall 2014. One position will
be at the Assistant Professor level and the other position will be either at
the Assistant or Associate level.
REQUIRED
QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Mathematics or Science Education, Learning Sciences,
- or related field
- Demonstrated

Areas
of research specialization are open, but we anticipate that at least one
position will focus on either elementary science and/or math. Additionally, we
would value colleagues with expertise in research on teacher education,
bilingual education, or use of technology in teaching and learning. Above
all, we seek talented scholars to join a faculty committed to innovative and
socially responsive research and teaching in graduate and undergraduate
programs in STEM Education with strong ties to the College of Natural Sciences
and the School of Engineering, over 50 full-time graduate students, two
nationally recognized teacher certification programs, a large and well-funded
Center for STEM Education, and a location in a diverse, rapidly growing, urban
setting. These positions offer a unique
combination of opportunities for interdisciplinary inquiry, design-based
research, program development, and impact on schools across the region and the
nation. The successful candidates will join an active STEM Education faculty
with a strong commitment to issues of equity in education, effective and
innovative learning technology, and field-based teacher education.
