CALL FOR PAPERS
For the 66th annual meeting of the
SOUTHEAST PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION SOCIETY
February 21-22, 2014
Decatur, GA
The Southeast Philosophy of Education Society (SEPES) has a long
tradition of providing a friendly forum for dialogue and the exchange
of philosophical ideas related to a broad variety of educational
topics. Topics might include, but are not limited to, the role of
philosophy in clarifying the relationship of school to society;
democracy and education; issues of diversity and commonality in
education; educational policy; school reform; and the integration of
theory and practice. SEPES welcomes papers on these or other issues.
For example, some of the papers included in last year’s program:
· Exploring Pragmatism and Agential Realism Through Transaction and Intra-action
Becky Atkinson, The University of Alabama
· A Foucauldian Approach to Analyzing Discourses in Professional
Learning Communities
Cheryl McLaughlin, The University of Florida
· Is Bitch Bad?: Reimagining the Gendered and Raced Possibilities of
Hip Hop as a Potential Emancipatory Site
Anthony Outler & Jennifer Esposito, Georgia State University
Colleagues and graduate students from fields other than philosophy who
are concerned with educational topics are also encouraged to submit
paper proposals. The presentation time for papers should be
approximately 15 to 20 minutes.
THE DEADLINE FOR RECEIVING PROPOSALS IS DECEMBER 6, 2013.
Submissions may be sent electronically to jvivirit@aurora.edu. Please
send a one page abstract or proposal and a cover letter stating your
affiliation, postal address, email address, and phone number. When
sending your proposal please do so in one document with your last name
in the file name.
