The University of Missouri announces a position in Indigenous Religions. The position will be filled at the tenure-track assistant professor/associate professor level. Area of specialization is open, but successful candidates must be able to teach a broad comparative course on indigenous religions and complement the existing strengths of our faculty. Other relevant criteria include: evidence of excellence in teaching; superior research skills; a clearly defined research agenda; ability to contribute to the department’s methodological diversity; and potential for significant contribution to the work of the department in a public research-intensive university context. Applicants’ work should be informed by methods and theories in the academic study of religion (religious studies). Teaching responsibilities include two courses per semester and close work with undergraduate and graduate students. The courses will range from introductory undergraduate courses to master’s level graduate seminars. The appointment will begin August 15, 2014. A Ph.D. completed by August 2014 is expected.
