Employment Opportunities: Multiple bilingual positions at Madison Metropolitan School District, Madison, WI

The Madison Metropolitan School District is committed to ensuring that every school is a thriving school that prepares every student to graduate high school well-equipped for college, careers and their community. It serves over 27,000 students in 49 schools, including 32 elementary schools (grades K-5), 12 middle schools (grades 6-8), four comprehensive high schools and one alternative high school. It also includes 4-year-old Kindergarten (4K), early childhood programs and alternative programs at the secondary level (grades 6-12). The District covers approximately 65 square miles including all or part of the cities of Madison and Fitchburg, the villages of Maple Bluff and Shorewood Hills, and the towns of Blooming Grove, Burke and Madison.

  • Bilingual Teacher: Positions include Bilingual Resource Teachers (BRTs), Dual Language Immersion (DLI) Teachers, and Bilingual classroom teachers. MMSD accepts applications from certified teachers for all levels of instruction all year long. We also recruit for other professional positions, including Bilingual Social Workers, Bilingual School Psychologists, Bilingual Guidance Counselors, Bilingual Speech/Language Therapists, and Bilingual Physical and Occupational Therapists.
  • Bilingual Permit Substitute Teacher: Due to the shortage of licensed bilingual substitute teachers, MMSD is hiring individuals who hold a minimum of a Bachelor's degree to work as short-term substitute teachers in bilingual classrooms.
  • Bilingual Resource Specialist (BRS): This position works closely with teachers and other staff as a liaison between the Madison Metropolitan School District and parents of English language learners in school-related matters. Translation of written materials and verbal interpretation are primary duties of a BRS. When job openings occur, they are posted on our application website.

  • Bilingual Special Education Assistant (SEA): Special Education Assistants provide assistance to students with a variety of physical land/or developmental dicabilities. For students who have special education needs, and who are also English language learners, the role of the Bilingual SEA is critical. Duties may be performed in the classroom and/or the community, and may include assistance with school work, with activities of daily living and with developing social skills. SEAs might work with a student individually, or in small groups, and always under the direction of a teacher.
