Description
The Department of Anthropology at
the University of Texas at Austin invites applications for an open rank faculty
position in Native American and Indigenous studies, to start in Fall 2016.
The successful candidate will show evidence of scholarly excellence
commensurate with rank, of accomplished teaching, and of active engagement with
indigenous and/or Native American theory and cultural-political
practice.
We conceive of the field of Native American
/ indigenous studies broadly, in both geographic and identity
terms, and we are especially interested in work that critically
engages these very definitional questions both theoretically
and practically. The new member of our faculty will join a
vibrant anthropology department, and will be encouraged to participate
actively in the formative phase of the University’s interdisciplinary Native
American and Indigenous Studies program. The selected candidate
will be expected to teach both undergraduate and graduate courses, develop a
strong research program, direct graduate research, demonstrate evidence of
successful research productivity, and exhibit a commitment to service to the
department, college, and university.
Salary is competitive and dependent on
qualifications and experience. Position funding is pending budgetary
approval.

Qualifications
Applicants must have a
Ph.D. in hand and an established reputation of high quality research
and publications. Applicants should also have a demonstrated record of
effective classroom teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
