MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:· Ph.D. in Linguistics with specialization in TESOL or official notification of completion of the doctoral degree by August 1, 2016· Potential for excellence in teaching at the college level· Evidence of research and scholarly achievement commensurate with professional level· Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population
DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Ability to teach courses in TESOL and in first and second language acquisition and literacy development· Ability to engage students at the undergraduate and graduate level with interests in TESOL and other applied fields· Ability to teach in one or more of the following areas: second language writing, classroom research, applied linguistics, bilingual literacy development· Ability to maintain an active research program in TESOL and to direct student research in TESOL and related fields· Demonstrated excellence in teaching linguistics at the college level· Potential for obtaining external funding· Ability to build relations with local schools and/or community-based agencies, and to engage students in collaboration and research· Ability to create and maintain connections with educational institutions in other countries· Professional/personal experience with languages other than English DUTIES:· Teach courses from undergraduate to graduate level courses in linguistics, including introductory courses and other courses, depending upon his/her expertise and department needs.· Participate in curriculum development and assessment activities· Engage in research leading to conference presentations, publications, and grant proposals· Participate in service to the department, college, university, and community CSULB seeks to recruit faculty who enthusiastically support the University’s strong commitment to the academic success of all of our students, including students of color, students with disabilities, students who are first generation to college, veterans, students with diverse socio-economic backgrounds, and students of diverse sexual orientations and gender expressions.
