Assistant or Associate Professor, Secondary Education

Description
Texas State University is seeking to fill a tenure-track or tenured position in Secondary Education (Grades 8-12) at the assistant or associate professor level.  This is a full-time position with a nine-month academic year appointment beginning in Fall 2016.  The successful candidate will: 1) deliver quality instruction in undergraduate and graduate courses in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction; 2) pursue a focused area of scholarship that culminates in nationally refereed publications, professional presentations, submitted grant proposals (i.e. external funding), and scholarly projects with faculty and students; and 3) provide leadership by helping to grow the Secondary Education Program.  Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications

Required:
  • Earned doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction or education-related field by hiring date
  • A minimum of three (3) years teaching or leadership experience at the secondary school level or equivalent
  • Demonstration of the potential for excellence in teaching at the university level
  • Evidence of the ability to establish and sustain a strong research agenda as evidenced by publications, presentations, grants, etc.
  • To be eligible for hire at the associate professor rank, candidate must meet the requirements for that rank as established by the department. The successful applicant will receive the appropriate rank and title based on University and department established standards.
Preferred:
  • Successful experience teaching graduate-level research courses and/or courses in curriculum, instruction, and assessment at the undergraduate or graduate levels
  • Prior leadership experience
  • Prior experience with generating NCATE/TEAC/CAEP accreditation reports and/or serving as a member of a comparable accreditation team
  • Evidence of successful collaboration with university and/or public school colleagues within a diverse environment
  • Experience working with diverse student populations
  • Experience using innovative technologies and/or integrating technology into the curriculum
  • Demonstration of the potential for service at the department, college, and/or university levels
  • Evidence of a commitment to culturally responsive teaching and social justice.
