The School of Education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill announces an open rank, tenure-track position in Literacy Education, with an emphasis on English language learners in elementary and middle school settings (K-8). Candidates should have a strong research background with a history of or potential for securing external funding. In addition, candidates should have demonstrated experience and leadership in preparing both pre-service and in-service K-12 educators to think critically about literacy instruction.

Candidates will be expected to teach literacy methods courses in the undergraduate elementary education program, the literacy master’s program, and the English as a second language master’s program. The master’s programs serve K-12 educators. Therefore, the ideal candidate will have the background knowledge necessary to work with in-service teachers across elementary, middle, and high school levels. Additional opportunities are available for teaching doctoral level literacy courses and advising doctoral students. Experience and/or knowledge in teaching in an online environment or using technology in instruction is a plus.
