Position Description: 
POSITION: Assistant or Associate Professor (Tenure Track): Curriculum Studies 
STARTING DATE: January 2015 or August 2015 
JOB DESCRIPTION: Responsibilities include working in a productive, collegial environment; teaching graduate courses in curriculum studies and undergraduate course within the college's degree programs; advising an mentoring students' and participating in service activities. The faculty member will teach curriculum studies graduate students, pre-service teachers, educators, counselors, school administrators, as well as interested non-majors from other colleges in the university. Additional expectations include sustaining a scholarly agenda and authoring publications. The COE is committed to a teacher-scholar model in which research informs teaching and vice versa.

SALARY: Commensurate with experience and qualifications.

The College of Education offers bachelors degrees in Early Childhood Education (English as a second language (SSL), bilingual education, special education), Middle School Education (science, mathematics, social studies, English/language arts and reading with ESL), Secondary Education (life science or physical science, English/language arts and reading with ESL), and All-Level Certification (music, art, physical education, theatre and education of deaf and hard of hearing), and Educational Studies. Masters programs are offered in Curriculum and INstruction (curriculum studies, language and literacy, mathematics education, and science education), Counseling, Educational Leadership, and Special Education. Doctoral programs include Curriculum Studies, Counseling, Science Education, and Education Leadership. 
 
Position Requirements: 
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

1. An earned doctorate (or expected completion prior to December 2014 for employment in January 2015; expected completion in July 2015 for employment in August 2015) in curriculum studies, curriculum theory, educational foundations, educational studies, or a closely related field.

2. Expertise in and an interdisciplinary approach to curriculum studies, curriculum theory, educational foundations, educational studies, or a closely related field.

3. A scholarly research agenda and accomplishments appropriate to the sage of academic career, and the potential for making national/international contributions to the field through research, presentations, and publications.

4. Demonstrated excellence or potential for excellence in teaching at the university level appropriate to the sage of academic career.

5. Professional experience with children, youth, families, and/or K-12 schools.

6. Strong written and oral communication skills.
