Directs and oversees the activities of affirmative action and equal opportunity functions for the University. Develops and implements comprehensive equal opportunity and affirmative action plans for the University, and ensures the University's compliance with all local, state, and federal civil rights laws and regulations. Provides advice and counsel to the University in areas of expertise and serves as the University's representative and liaison to the community in this area. Develops, implements, and monitors programs promoting and ensuring compliance with affirmative action and equal opportunity goals and objectives for academic and non-academic staff. Supervises staff in the identification and resolution of discrimination and sexual harassment complaints. Provides data, metrics and statistics (and the analysis thereof) to University leadership related to enhancing diversity and ensuring equity and inclusion while remaining in compliance with federal, state and local civil rights laws and regulations. Provides guidance and support on the development of EEO metrics and responds to inquiries internally and externally. Assesses the University's needs related to training for EEO matters. Provides guidance on matters related to disability accommodations and serves as the ADA coordinator. Independently develops, researches, interprets and recommends EEO-related programs, policies and procedures.

Master's degree; at least 5 years of experience that can be demonstrated to be applicable to the duties listed in the job description.

Bachelor's degree; at least 7 years of experience that can be demonstrated to be applicable to the duties listed in the job description.  
Advanced professional degree, Ph.D, J.D. or Ed.D ?
Bilingual: proficiency in reading and writing in English and Spanish. ?
Knowledge and understanding of all regulatory provisions, guidelines, and procedures for the administration of federal and state laws and regulations on civil rights such as the ADA, VEVRAA, 503/504/508, Title II, Title VI, Title VII and Title IX as they relate to public education institutions. ?
Skills in investigation, negotiation, mediation, and complaint resolution. ?
Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures. ?
Ability to develop, plan, and implement short-and long-range goals. ?
Advanced knowledge and understanding of human resources management principles, practices, and standards, as applied to public institutions. ?
Ten years or more professional experience in higher education environment and/ or EEO/AA experience. ?
Advanced oral and written communication skills and the ability to present effectively to small and large groups. ?
Demonstrated ability to develop and manage a team of professional and administrative staff, to include hiring, training, performance management, work allocation and supervision, and prioritization. ?
Skill in budget preparation and fiscal management. ?
Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, access and student success as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
