The White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics is pleased to invite you to participate in:

A WEBINAR on Improving Outcomes for Hispanic Males

Wednesday, April 23rd, at 2:00-3:10pm EDT

This is part of a monthly webinar series, designed to share information and foster peer networking around key education topics of interest to the Hispanic community. The webinars will:

*   Present information about federal investments or initiatives on key topics
*   Highlight examples of Bright Spots, programs or models that address these key topics in the Hispanic community
*   Initiate a dialogue among Hispanic community leaders to share promising practices, provide peer advice, and explore collaboration on the key topics

This month’s webinar will focus on the President's My Brother’s Keeper initiative and improving educational and life outcomes for young Hispanic males in the United States. Data shows that Hispanic and other boys and young men of color, regardless of socio-economic background, are disproportionately at risk throughout the journey from their youngest years to college and career. To ensure the economic and social viability of our nation, it is critically important that the education and life outcomes for students, particularly Hispanic and other boys and men of color, are enhanced. This month’s webinar will include a presentation from Rafael Lopez, Senior Policy Advisor at the White House, and an overview of the work of Project MALES (Mentoring to Achieve Latino Educational Success) from Drs. Victor Saenz and Luis Ponjuan, co-founders. Project MALES is an organization that aims to increase Latino educational outcomes through research and mentoring.

Guest speakers:

* Rafael Lopez, Senior Policy Advisor, The White House

* Dr. Victor Saenz, Co-founder and Executive Director, Project MALES
Dr. Luis Ponjuan, Co-founder, Project MALES
