Faculty Position in Bilingual/ESL for Linguistically and Culturally Diverse Learners 

(Tenured/Tenure Track Faculty, Associate or Full) 

The School of Education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a leading research university, invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Associate or Full Professor in ESL/Education for Linguistically and Culturally Diverse Learners. The appointment will begin on July 1, 2016

Position: Duties include teaching courses for PreK-12 ESL teacher education and graduate-level courses, advising graduate students, conducting research, and providing local, state, and national service. The successful candidate is expected to pursue a research agenda that addresses the issues that P-12 educators face. 

Qualifications: Candidates must hold an earned doctorate in second language or bilingual education, TESOL, or a related field of research, and have teaching experience at some level of PreK-12 ESL and/or involvement with PreK-12 ESL teacher education. Applicants must show a strong scholarly record as well as a commitment to teaching and service. Documentation of the following will strengthen an application: knowledge of and experience with bilingual education; experience or potential to work collaboratively and across disciplines; engagement with high-need schools; international experience; and, for more advanced scholars, a history of securing research funding.
