Elsa Núñez, president of Eastern Connecticut State University, is one of 17 college and university presidents across the nation and the only one in New England, to join "Presidents for Latino Student Success" (PLSS), a group of higher education leaders throughout the country who are committed to making America stronger by increasing degree attainment for Latino students and all students.

Hispanic-Serving Institutions Center for Policy & Practice (HSI-CP2)
Excelencia in Education is creating a HSI Center for Policy & Practice focused on better understanding and supporting efforts to serve Latino students in higher education. The Center is scheduled to launch in the fall of 2014 and TG has provided initial funding to support the design, launch, and sustainability of the Center.

Affirmative Action Based on Disadvantage Could Increase Racial Diversity at America's Most Elite Colleges
New research reveals African-American and Hispanic enrollments at America's 193 most elite colleges would more than double if the top ten percent of every class were guaranteed admission and students from low socioeconomic backgrounds were given an admissions boost. The research, authored by Anthony P. Carnevale, Stephen J. Rose, and Jeff Strohl, is featured in a new book launched by the Century and Lumina Foundations entitled The Future of Affirmative Action: New Paths to Higher Education Diversity after Fisher v. University of Texas.

Achieving Goal 2025 requires the acknowledgment of systemic disparities and the imperative of placing equity and excellence at the center of all work to improve postsecondary attainment. The current higher education system must be redesigned to give all Americans - regardless of race, income and other socioeconomic factors - the opportunities that postsecondary attainment provides.

Lumina Foundation Launches MoveED for Goal 2025
Lumina Foundation and several other leading organizations announced they have joined forces to launch a national social network called MoveED for Goal 2025. The new network is focused on building a collaborative platform with thousands of partners to make attainment beyond high school America's cause-especially for 21st Century Students which include: low-income students, students of color, first generation students and adult learners.
