Job title: Study Abroad Professor & Coordinator in Mexico
with the Autonomous University of Social Movements & Mexico Solidarity Network
Salary: $25,000 for first 6 months, then $30,000 with monthly health stipend
Full time: 50+ hours/week with 5 weeks paid vacation
The Autonomous University of Social Movements (AUSM) & the Mexico Solidarity Network offer alternative educational programs focused on the study of social movements in Mexico, socialism in Cuba, and community organizing in Chicago. AUSM combines rigorous theoretical study, participatory action research, and experiential learning with powerful social actors struggling for justice, autonomy, and democracy.
Study Abroad Professor & Coordinator
We need a teammate that can lead semester-long study abroad programs in Mexico that focus on the context, practice, and theory of social movements. Responsibilities include teaching political economy and social movement theory, maintaining relationships with social movements in the respective countries, organizing program logistics, and supporting study abroad participants in their interpretation of social movements. The study abroad program is based in Chiapas, Tlaxcala, and Mexico City. Responsibilities also include recruitment of students and processing student application materials.
All applicants should have:
- Fluency or near fluency in both English and Spanish.
- Masters or PhD in a field related to political economy, sociology, Latin American studies, social movements, education, or community organizing
