USD Assistant Professor of Spanish Heritage Language Learning

Department of Languages, Cultures, and Literatures at the University of San Diego Assistant Professor of Spanish – Heritage Language Learning The Department of Languages, Cultures, and Literatures invites applications for a tenure­‐track position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning in Fall 2016. We seek a dynamic teacher­‐scholar with a specialization in Heritage Language Learning and Pedagogy. Interests or specialization in community­‐based curricular development, second language acquisition, and/or sociolinguistics is considered a plus. The successful candidate will teach Spanish courses at all levels as well as upper­‐division courses in area(s) of specialization. Qualifications include a Ph.D. in relevant field(s), such as Hispanic/Spanish Linguistics or Culture, Literacy, and Language, in hand by start date. Native or near­‐native proficiency in Spanish and English required. Experience in language teaching and in effectively addressing diversity in curricula and the classroom is important. The candidate must have a strong commitment to both teaching and scholarly achievement, as well as enthusiasm and demonstrated excellence in teaching. Teaching load is three courses per semester.
