USD Assistant Professor of Spanish Heritage Language Learning
Department of Languages, Cultures, and Literatures at the University of San Diego Assistant Professor of Spanish – Heritage Language Learning The Department of Languages, Cultures, and Literatures invites applications for a tenure­‐track position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning in Fall 2016. We seek a dynamic teacher­‐scholar with a specialization in Heritage Language Learning and Pedagogy. Interests or specialization in community­‐based curricular development, second language acquisition, and/or sociolinguistics is considered a plus. The successful candidate will teach Spanish courses at all levels as well as upper­‐division courses in area(s) of specialization. Qualifications include a Ph.D. in relevant field(s), such as Hispanic/Spanish Linguistics or Culture, Literacy, and Language, in hand by start date. Native or near­‐native proficiency in Spanish and English required. Experience in language teaching and in effectively addressing diversity in curricula and the classroom is important. The candidate must have a strong commitment to both teaching and scholarly achievement, as well as enthusiasm and demonstrated excellence in teaching. Teaching load is three courses per semester. Candidates selected for the second stage will be required to submit complete samples of student­‐written teaching evaluations, sample of scholarship, and three recent letters of recommendation by November 7, 2015.
