Did you see our email below about the uncounted votes in Arizona?
In just a few days, the situation has become more outrageous. Over 600,000 votes in Arizona have not been counted, yet. That’s about one in three total votes. It's not just Sheriff Joe Arpaio's race that hangs in the balance, it's also two House seats, possibly a Senate seat, and many more local races that could be affected.
The country is now paying attention,1 thanks in part to over 20,000 Presente.org members. Even Senate Majority leader Harry Reid has demanded that all the votes be counted.2
We see you haven't yet signed the petition. Can you sign and share the petition to get us to 30,000 people asking for every vote in Arizona to be counted?
Thanks and ¡adelante!

Dear Luis,
We can’t believe what’s happening right now: Major news outlets are reporting that Joe Arpaio has been reelected to his sixth term as sheriff in Arizona. But the county recorder hasn’t even called the race yet.
Arpaio is leading by a 90,000 vote margin yet it's estimated there are over 300,000 ballots that haven’t been counted—and it's likely most are from Latino neighborhoods!1 2
Tell the Maricopa County Recorder’s Office to fully monitor the counting of ballots to ensure that every vote counts.
Many people in Arizona were forced to cast provisional ballots—if they didn’t have certain ID or had requested ballots by mail—and there are even reports that some of these are being thrown away rather than counted.1
It just adds fuel to the fire of shady actions in the lead-up to the elections, like voter registration cards with the wrong election date printed only in Spanish, or early voting ballots that never arrived. 3
Arpaio himself is no stranger to dirty tricks. He's launched investigations into political foes that wasted millions of county dollars, botched sex crime investigations because he was too busy going after immigrant families, and was the subject of a federal investigation because of rampant racial profiling. 4
But whether or not Arpaio wins, the mishandling of this election by Maricopa County officials sets a dangerous precedent for future elections.
We need to send a strong message that the rest of the country is watching Maricopa County and won’t stand for the outrageous voter suppression happening right now.
Latinos in Maricopa County participated in this election in record numbers motivated by a chance to oust Joe Arpaio.5 It is despicable that those votes will be silenced if the Maricopa County Recorder’s Office doesn’t meet it's responsibilities.
Sign this petition telling the Maricopa County Recorder’s Office to count every ballot:
Thanks and ¡adelante!
