Associate Professor of Educational Foundations and Department Chair
of Educational Studies and Teacher Preparation // Fairfield University

The Department of Educational Studies and Teacher Preparation, located
in the Graduate School of Education and Allied Professions seeks to
hire a tenure-track Associate Professor of Educational Studies and
Teacher Preparation who would also chair the Department. The Chair
position is a three-year renewable term.

The successful candidate would hold a doctorate in a relevant field in
educational foundations or leadership (e.g. sociocultural or
philosophical foundations, educational leadership, educational policy,
social justice education, curriculum). S/he would have successful
school-based and higher education teaching and leadership experience,
a record of professional and university-based service, peer-reviewed
scholarship and an ongoing research agenda commensurate with an
appointment as an associate professor. Experience in leading
cross-disciplinary and innovative program design, mentoring graduate
students, serving in department and program administrative roles,
successful grant-writing, CAEP and SPA requirements, and ability to
collaborate with faculty, teachers, administrators and community
partners across school-university contexts are highly desirable.
Expertise in and a commitment to social justice education and teaching
in inclusive, multicultural settings will be given strong
consideration. A commitment to innovation and demonstrated excellence
in using technology in the classroom is expected.

Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate education
courses, curriculum design, advising students, co-mentoring
colleagues, chairing the ESTP department, directing one or more
departmental programs, participating in university governance
(committees, task forces, working groups), engaging in
school-university partnerships and collaborating with colleagues and
programs across GSEAP and the wider university.

Appointment is effective September 1, 2017.
