CLINICAL ASSISTANT PROFESSOR POSITION in TESOL
 
The Department of Language and Literacy Education at the University of Georgia invites applications for a Clinical Assistant Professor in TESOL. The position begins in August 2015. Clinical faculty members are full-time faculty members eligible for promotion who have a strong academic background, professional experience in K-12 contexts, and a commitment to teacher education (learn more at: http://provost.uga.edu/documents/uga-clinical-guidelines-appt-promotion-11-28-11.pdf.
The Department of Language and Literacy Education has a faculty recognized nationally and internationally for their expertise. This clinical position is affiliated with the TESOL and World Language Education focal area (TWLE), which has a dynamic and diverse faculty who work closely together. The position includes teaching online and face-to-face courses within the candidate’s area of expertise and coordinating an ESOL endorsement program. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

      An earned doctorate in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, Second Language Acquisition, Bilingual Education, or a related field by August 2015;
      At least 5 years of professional experience in the field of TESOL, including public school experience;
      Commitment to working with emergent bilingual learners in diverse and multicultural contexts;
      Experience with online instruction and various multimedia tools/environments;
      Interest in clinical fieldwork, teacher education programs, and school-university partnerships.
Responsibilities:
      Teach undergraduate and graduate courses for candidates seeking an endorsement and/or initial certification in TESOL;
      Provide instructional leadership and mentoring to part-time instructors of ESOL endorsement and certification courses;
      Advise undergraduate and graduate students in the program and communicate with the undergraduate advisor in Student Services;
      Contribute to administering endorsement and certification programs;
      Maintain working relationships with local schools.
