The Women’s Community Center of Central Texas is hiring!

Job title: Development director

Roles and responsibilities
•       Work with executive director to develop fundraising strategy and annual
fundraising plan
•       Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individual and corporate
donors, with emphasis on major donors and small sustaining donors
•       Pursue funding for projects and annual conference
•       Track and evaluate success of fundraising efforts
•       Manage development budget
•       Supervise and mentor interns as needed
•       Work with our bookkeeper/accountant on tax and financial issues
•       Represent the Center at public events
•       Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, skills, and abilities
•       Strong understanding of major gift and small gift fundraising
•       Outstanding communication skills. Must be a great listener who can
recognize opportunities, connect with people, and help donors match their
interests with our initiatives. Must be a strong speaker and writer who
can communicate our mission with passion. Must be committed to honest,
transparent, open communication with other staff members.
•       Comfortable as leader or team member
•       Creative problem-solver with the ability to work independently
•       Flexibility and willingness to cross-train
•       Positive attitude
•       Effective multi-tasker who capably manages multiple priorities and
demands and works well to deadlines
•       This position is best suited to someone with a project-oriented work
style who is comfortable with flexible hours. There will be evening and
weekend commitments, but we’re happy for the right candidate to balance
these with time off during the regular work week.

Qualifications
•       BA or equivalent experience
•       At least five years of experience in development work
•       Demonstrated ability to take primary responsibility for multiple
projects and complete them in a timely manner
•       Savvy computer user familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel, fundraising
software, and comfortable with or willing to learn Apple OS X and
Quickbooks
•       Demonstrated commitment to gender justice
•       Comfort with and commitment to working with diverse populations
•       Knowledge of intersectionality and feminism preferred
•       Some supervisory experience preferred
•       Startup experience and/or small organization experience a plus

Working Conditions:
•       Work is typically inside office environment
•       Sitting for long periods of time
•       Some weekend and evening hours
•       Infrequent light physical effort required

Important note about the position:
Because we are a young organization with a small staff, this position is
not just development! The successful candidate will also take
responsibility for at least one other area. That could be community
outreach/volunteers, communications, or something else, depending on
background and skill set. As we grow (and our budget allows), that will
change. But as is common in a small organization, everyone plays multiple
roles.
