Celebrate Juneteenth and the struggles for civil rights and social justice in the United States.  Local activists will read classic speeches and statements documented in Voices of a People's History (the companion volume to Howard's Zinn's People's History of the US) from Sojourner Truth to activists in the post-9/11 antiwar movement. 

Readers include members Education Austin, the Nation of Islam, IBEW, Occupy Austin, PRIDE of the Eastside, Iraq Veterans Against the War, International Socialist Organization, as well as family members of victims of police violence and many more! (Organizational affiliations listed for identification purposes only.)

This is a fundraiser to help local activists attend the Socialism 2013 conference in Chicago. See http://socialismconference.org for more info.  Suggested donation: $10, no one turned away for lack of funds.
