Teachers - GRAD Academy

New England Area

GRAD Academies, a division of Project GRAD USA, is seeking outstanding K-8 teachers for the 2014-2015

school year.

Vision for New England GRAD Academies

GRAD Academies partner with schools, communities, districts, and states to cultivate schools that are

rigorous and responsive, inclusive and innovative, and are sites of learning and excellence for both youth and

the adults who serve them. Ultimately, we seek to prepare all students for college and career success, and to

inspire them to become engaged participants in our democracy.

About Project GRAD USA and GRAD Academies

As one of the nation's premier education reform organizations, GRAD’s mission is to ensure a quality public

school education for students in low-income areas, so that more students graduate from high school and

enter college prepared to excel. In 2013, GRAD was designated a restart operator by the Commonwealth

of Massachusetts as well as a school operator by the Achievement School District of Tennessee. In August

2013, GRAD took over management of Dean Technical High School in Holyoke, MA, and opened GRAD

Academy Memphis, in Memphis, TN. In January 2014, GRAD was named the Receiver of Morgan Full Service

Community School, also in Holyoke, MA. Additionally, for the past 20 years, GRAD has worked with over

135,000 students in 200 schools, focusing on academic support and school climate, parent and community

engagement, school-based social service; and college access. We are currently exploring new growth

opportunities in New England and elsewhere.

GRAD Academies’ curriculum and instruction are fully aligned with state and national Common Core

Standards. While specific resources may vary, each Academy is marked by:

• A culture of high expectations and high support

• A commitment to cultivating student responsibility and agency through problem- and project-based

learning

• Use of adaptive learning strategies that are responsive to students’ individual learning needs

• Strategic use of formative assessment data to enable timely feedback and “just right” support

• Active engagement with families and communities to bridge the cultural knowledge and resources

that families and communities have accumulated over time with the formal knowledge, skills, and

practices that students must learn in school.

Values We Seek:

• Integrity in all actions and relationships

• Innovative leadership and advocacy for students’ success

• Openness to new ideas and robust debate

• Dedication to critical reflection, fact-based decision-making and transparency in all areas of

performance
