The Consortium for the Study of Leadership and Ethics in Education
(CSLEE), a UCEA program center, announces its final call for proposals
to present at its annual three-day Values and Leadership conference,
which promotes research and reflection on issues in values, morals,
ethics, and leadership in education.

The theme of this international conference is Leadership in Uncertain
Times: Complex Dilemmas and Ethical Possibilities. We propose that
ethical and moral educational leadership plays an even more heightened
role in supporting civil societies following international tragedies
in Beirut and Paris in 2015 (and now, most recently, in Orlando. FL).

We seek proposals for papers, posters, symposia, and pre-conference
workshops on a range of possible subjects.

Suggested sub-topics might include the following:
• Responses and responsibilities in troubling situations
• Civil liberties and democracy in times of terror
• Uncertainty and change as critical learning experiences
• Ethics, educational leadership, and global citizenship
• Complexity, leadership theory, and practice in education
• Ethics, values, and practitioner-scholar educational leadership research
• Other topics relevant to values, ethics, and leadership in education

Conference organizers would also like to invite school board leaders
(teacher leaders, support staff leaders, department heads,
vice-principals, principals, superintendents, and directors) to submit
a proposal to present at this conference.

Presentations need not focus on sharing research results, but should
be research- and/or evidence-informed.

Topics of relevance for practitioner presentations include, but are
not limited to, values-based leadership, moral dilemmas, and ethical
approaches to
• Aboriginal Education
• Admissions
• International Student Education
• Mental Health
• Safe Schools
• Poverty Initiatives
• Religion Education
• Trust in Schools
• Policy and Practice
• Serving Diversity
• Social Justice Education
• Other relevant Board, District, and School Initiatives

Presentations forms may vary, but should include some scholarly
content and audience engagement. Types and length of presentations
include
• Individual presentations, 15-20 minutes in length.
• A panel of 3 individual but related presentations, 75 minutes in length.
• A roundtable, with multiple speakers on a shared topic, 75 minutes in length.
• A facilitated workshop, which is 90 minutes in length.

Collaborative, dialogue-based, and multimedia-based presentations are
welcome. Technology support will be available.

Graduate students who propose 10-minute pre-conference panel
presentations remain eligible to submit an additional presentation to
the main program. Awards are also available. More information may be
found on the conference site.

Submit a proposal to www.edu.uwo.ca/cslee2016/proposals.html with the
following information: 1) Name of presenter(s) and short bios; 2)
email address(es) of presenter(s); 3) Department or Unit, and

symposium, pre-conference workshop, etc.); 5) 500 word abstract; 6)
100 word summary, keywords; 7) Technology requirements (projector,
