The Effects of Budget Battles on Latino Employment
What does the federal budget have to do with Latino employment? Our Monthly Latino Employment Report explains.
Recent and pending cuts in federal spending will probably result in slower job creation in 2013 relative to last year. Some estimates indicate that planned across-the-board cuts to federal programs, known as sequestration, could cost the U.S. economy 2.1 million jobs. For Latinos, that could mean another year of high unemployment. In January, the Latino unemployment rate was 9.7%.
