POSITION: Assistant/Associate Professor, Center for Urban Education.
This position is a full-time tenure-track position, beginning August
2017.
DESCRIPTION: The Center for Urban Education in the School of Education
at the University of Pittsburgh seeks candidates for the position of
Assistant/Associate Professor in the School of Education. The
successful candidate will be an individual who studies the context of
urban education and/or urban communities through one of several
disciplines: anthropology, area studies, geography, instruction and
learning, learning sciences, policy, educational leadership,
sociology, psychology, or teacher education.
The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the
development of a PhD program in urban education, develop and teach
courses related to urban education, mentor and advise graduate
students, and secure external funding.
Candidates who are intellectually curious, have a critical, social
justice, equity-focused orientation to their research, teaching, and
service are especially encouraged to apply.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants for the position will have an earned
doctorate in urban education or a related field (see above). Those new
and more advanced in the field will be considered at the assistant
professor level. Evidence of relevant coursework, related preparation,
and/or work experience in urban education is desirable.
