Position: BUCKNELL UNIVERSITY LEARNING SUPPORT SPECIALIST

BUCKNELL UNIVERSITY LEARNING SUPPORT SPECIALIST

Reporting to the Assistant Director of the Teaching and Learning
Center (TLC) for Student Learning Support, this individual will work
closely with the TLC staff and other campus partners to provide
student learning support content and resources across campus. They
will deliver learning assistance to students through personalized
programs of academic self-improvement and group workshops and support
the TLC programs already in place. This is a 10-month position, August
1 to June 1; review of applications will begin immediately.

Duties & Responsibilities

Work with the Teaching and Learning Center Assistant Director for
Student Learning Support (SLS) and campus partners to plan and
implement SLS programming, including support of the TLC Peer Tutoring
and TLC Study Groups Programs.

Initiate, organize, and deliver student development workshops on
topics such as learning strategies, study skills, and time management,
and coordinate peer to peer workshops.

Meet individually with students for consultations, including
follow-ups with students referred to the Tutoring Program to monitor
their progress.

Work with TLC staff to assemble and maintain a database of learning
support resources available to students.

Collaborate with faculty, staff, and student groups across campus to
identify unmet needs in student learning support and develop programs
and materials to address these needs.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree.
Experience with tutoring, mentoring, or advising students OR
experience with teaching and/or student learning support services.
Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion and experience
working with or serving a diverse student body.
Demonstrated ability to interact successfully with individuals and
groups at all levels of an organization.
Demonstrated ability to work closely with others in a small and highly
collaborative team and multi-task under busy conditions.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong attention to detail, self-motivated, and excellent organizational skills.
Ability to handle confidential information on a routine basis.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in a relevant field.
Experience working in higher education.
Understanding of best practices in working with multilingual students
in a university setting.
