Thanks to support from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, tribal members who are engaged in language programs may apply for funding to attend the International Conference of Indigenous Archives, Libraries, and Museums (ATALM 2015) in Washington, DC from September 9-15. Applicants who partner with archives, libraries, or museums receive priority. Scholarships range from $300 to $950. June 15 is the deadline for applying, with announcements made on or before July 1. Scholarship applications are available at http://atalm.formstack.com/forms/language_scholarship
The language programs offered at ATALM 2015 include a full-day Language Preservation Summit, a 1/2 day workshop, and more than 24 sessions and workshops. The programs are offered in partnership with the White House Initiative for American Indian and Alaska Native Education, the Department of Health and Human Services’ Administration for Native Americans, the Department of Interior’s Bureau of Indian Education, the National Endowment for the Humanities, the National Science Foundation, the Institute of Museum and Library Services, and the Library of Congress Folklife Center. The goal of the expanded programming is to build and strengthen relationships between tribal language programs and archives, libraries, and museums,
