Invisible Children’s Teacher Exchange, is an international teacher collaboration that brings educators from North America to northern Uganda to partner teach for six weeks during the summer months. Since its conception in 2007, this program has been based on the belief and practice that through an international partner-teaching relationship and an intentional engagement in the three program elements (critical pedagogy, cultural exchange and dialogue), participants are able to distinctively embark on a diverse sharing of ideas about life and education practice. Through their conversations around critical pedagogy, participants are challenged to continually consider the complex historical and political dynamics at play in merging western and post-colonial cultures. Ultimately, in addition to accessing new classroom tools and methods through their collaborations, the program incites participants to examine new ways of thinking and being in the world.
Please join us in inviting teachers and future teachers to take part in this one of a kind program in the summer of 2014. Applications will be available in August 2013 at http://invisiblechildren. com/program/teacher-exchange- program/.
Warm Regards,
Mercy Southam
