Be a leader for an interdisciplinary department that offers M.S.Ed.
degrees in educational administration, school business management,
educational psychology, curriculum and instruction, and foundations of
education, an Ed.S. in educational administration, the Ed.D. in
educational administration and curriculum and instruction, and the
Ph.D. in educational psychology. Approximately 500 students are
enrolled in these programs.

The department also provides numerous undergraduate and graduate
service courses to programs throughout the university including those
preparing future teachers. The department has 23 faculty members, 35
instructors, and 5 operating and supportive professional staff. The
department chair serves as the chief academic and administrative
officer and is accountable directly to the Dean of the College of
Education for all aspects of development and operations of the
department, including budget, curriculum, personnel, and resource
allocation. This is a full-time, twelve-month administrative position.

REQUIRED SKILLS
Earned doctorate and eligible to meet department criteria for tenure
at associate or full professor; leadership experience in higher
education; strong record in teaching, scholarship, and service;
ability to advocate for faculty, staff, and students; excellent
interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills; commitment to
advancing diversity; and ability to cultivate a collegial environment
for faculty, staff, and student success.

PREFERRED SKILLS
Ability to lead faculty in grants acquisition, scholarship, and
innovative program development; experience with and support for
school, community, and university collaboration and outreach programs;
demonstrated experience in developing and evaluating faculty and
staff; knowledge of budgeting and fiscal management of departmental
resources; capacity to promote departmental programs to external
audiences; ability to lead the faculty in articulating a coherent
vision for the department; experience with developing and maintaining
relations with alumni and donors; demonstrated ability in providing
leadership for the development of innovative and market responsive
academic programming (curriculum and delivery models).
